Xanadu, Love and Infatuation

I went to an outdoor movie last night with a bunch of friends. It was Xanadu by Olivia Newton-John. I enjoyed the movie, but I mostly enjoy the view from the park (see picture here). When we left, it was full moon. I thought about my pilot then...

Afterwards, I was thinking about media's projection of love. A lot of times, the love shown in movies is actually infatuation, in my opinion. When I am infatuated, I feel faster heartbeats, sweaty palms, butterfly feelings, missing/wanting to be with the person all the time, obssessing with the person, etc. Those are very intensive feelings and sometimes it disappear as fast as they come. Once a while, infatuation developed and migrated to LOVE. I used to really believe in love at 1st sight, well I still believe it, but I have become "wiser" along the way. To me love involves more than infatuation: it means friendship, deeper understanding of one another, wanting to be there for the person no matter what, accepting the person just the way he/she is, good or bad, support the person as he/she wanted, and extending oneself for the purpose of nurturing one's own and another's spiritual, mental and emotional growth... All these require actually knowing the person, and actually knowing the person takes time. Love takes time. Of course, love at 1st sight is a great start:-)
